Final Assignments
During this semester we had three assignments to work on; Hiraeth, Academic Mindsets and Film-Based and out of these three, we were able to choose two that we wanted to revise for our final assignment. The two that I chose to be my formal assignments are the Hiraeth and Film-Based Assignments since I felt like I had more to say about these two topics.
For the Hiraeth Assignment we were instructed to write about a place that we long to go back to, either real or imaginary. I chose to write about a personal experience in my life that molded me into the person that I am today. During class we watched the film John Q. which became the topic for the Film-Based Assignment. There were a lot of different ways that we were able to take this paper, but I chose to focus on if he is a hero or villain.
The Academic Mindsets project was very interesting for sure. We learned about growth and fixed mindsets, challenging yourself and yearning to learn is an example of a growth mindset while not willing to improve your skills is an example of a fixed mindset. I never really heard of these terms before, but after reading about Dwecks and Kohn's opinions on this topic formulating my own opinion was quite easy.
On this page, I will post my two formal and four informal final assignments.
Formal Assignments:
-Hiraeth Assignment
-Film-Based Assignment
Informal Assignments:
-Blog #1: Hiraeth Project Discussion
-Blog #2: U.S. v.s. E.U. Police System
-Blog #3: Midterm Reflection
